The Sacramento office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a full-time Teller.  The Teller is responsible for providing excellent customer service and adding to the positive growth of the Bank by providing solutions to customer needs and promoting products and services tailored to our customers.  This is done while ensuring prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate service.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Providing prompt, efficient service, including performing various financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals and issuing cashier’s checks.
  • Assisting customers with payment processing and other tasks including safe deposit access, stop payments, interest rate quotes, and account inquiries.
  • Adhering to Bank policies, procedures, and balancing rules.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, and an understanding of banking laws and regulations.  The Teller must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail, and have the ability to understand and describe Bank products and services, including cross-selling appropriate products and services.  Tellers must also have a good understanding of safety issues and the ability to identify potential fraud and fraudulent items.

The successful Teller will also have excellent customer service and communication skills, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Providing prompt, efficient service, including identifying customer needs and matching them with proper products and/or services; providing problem resolution, quoting rates and calculating interest, processing stop payments and wires.
  • Opening new accounts and performing account maintenance, including preparing required documentation and ordering checks, cards, statements, etc., and setting up online banking.
  • Following established Bank procedures and practices to ensure completeness and accuracy of work.

Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, and an extensive knowledge of banking law and regulations related to new accounts and bank operations.  The Customer Service Representative must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, as well as the ability to understand and describe Bank products and services in a concise manner.

Staff Accountant - (Redding)

Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Staff Accountant.  The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing excellent support to the Accounting Department and adding to the positive growth of the Bank by performing accounting and financial reporting functions that adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and authoritative regulatory guidance.  This is done while ensuring prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate service.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • May perform accounting functions for the Company’s investment portfolio, including but not limited to: investment transaction postings, monthly income accruals, month-end reconciliation to the general ledger, and investment roll-for
  • Perform accounting functions for FHLB borrowings, including but not limited to: various expense payment postings and month-end interest expense accruals.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly accrual entries, general ledger reconcilements, and roll-forward schedule.
  • May perform accounting functions related to the Company’s fixed assets, including posting monthly depreciation and month-end reconciliation. Administer FAS software to ensure accurate safekeeping of the Company’s fixed assets, including recording additions, disposals, and transfers. Reconcile construction in progress accounts.  Perform quarterly roll-forward of fixed assets.  Compile tax information for the completion of the annual property tax forms, including maintaining proper tax coding in FAS.   Compile tax form 4562 information for Federal and State.
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliation of the Company’s OREO properties. Maintain adequate file documentation to support OREO journal entries.
  • Assist in maintaining file support and lease schedule of the Company’s lea
  • Assist with preparation of SEC reports, including 10k and 10q report
  • Assist with the preparation for internal and external audits and review

Requirements of the position are a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent related experience.  The Staff Accountant must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail, and have the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks. 

The successful Staff Accountant will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, solid computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as problem-prevention and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Loan Administrator II - (Roseville, CA)

The Roseville office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Loan Administrator II. The Loan Administrator II is responsible for providing excellent customer service and adding to the positive growth of the Bank by providing loan processing support to Relationship Managers and other employees in the lending department. This is done while ensuring prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate service.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Review loan documents and files to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate:
    •  Order and follow up on all documents (e.g., preliminary title reports, environmental, flood and other supporting documents)
    •  Maintain files both electronically and physically, keep files organized, with up to date pertinent information
    • Review files and upload to our electronic recordkeeping program iDentifi.
    • Prepare paperwork for extensions/renewals and modifications
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed to collect and account for all necessary collateral and evidence of insurance (applies to insurance, collateral, deeds, and titles); track and follow-up on all outstanding collateral and ensure all collateral requested by Bank is obtained.
  • Provide prompt, efficient service to customers both in person and over the phone (e.g., process transfers and advances, post payments, disburse loan funds in appropriate cases, etc.); respond to voicemail/email in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with new and existing customers by greeting them and completing transactions in an efficient and timely manner while giving them the utmost customer service.
  • Assist Relationship Manager with loan closing and account maintenance.
  • Balance necessary GL accounts as necessary.
  • Maintain Loan Status Activity Report on a weekly basis. Loans in Post Booking, must be reviewed, documents scanned and routed to Relationship Manager within 30 days of boarding.
Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, and ten years of banking and loan administrative experience, as well as title and escrow knowledge, and a general understanding of processing construction loans. The Loan Administrator II must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail. 
 
The successful Loan Administrator II will also have excellent customer service and communication skills, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

IT Support Technician I - (Roseville)

The Roseville office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for an IT Support Technician I.  The IT Support Technician I is responsible for ensuring proper computer operation by prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving hardware and application service and support requests from bank employees and vendors.  The IT Support Technician I analyzes issues and researches data in order to escalate complex issues to the appropriate area, adding to the positive growth of the Bank by providing top-level customer service and is a team player within the IT service and Support Team. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Field incoming help requests from end-users via telephone and ticketing software in a courteous manner.
  • Document all pertinent end-user identification information, including name, department, contact information and nature of problem or issue using our IT service and support ticketing system as required.
  • Maintain high degree of customer service by ensuring all network-related problems are address quickly and thoroughly, ensuring hardware or software is working to user satisfaction. (Problem resolution may involve use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.
  • Record, track and document helpdesk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made and actions taken, through final resolution.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems; escalate problems (when required) to appropriately experienced technician.
  • Setup and deploy workstations, thin clients, monitors, phones, headsets, etc., in office locations as needed.
  • Provide support to business units in order to help move employees IT equipment to new locations as requested.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from helpdesk customers.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions, analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems; develop help sheets, and frequently asked questions lists for end-users.
  • Position requires flexible work hours.


Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, successful completion of college-level computer courses, specialized education or equivalent experience desired, two (2) years of experience in general technology, and possess a valid driver’s license.  The successful IT Support Technician I must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, comprehend and apply new information, and work accurately with a close attention to detail.
