The Sacramento office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a full-time Teller.  The Teller is responsible for providing excellent customer service and adding to the positive growth of the Bank by providing solutions to customer needs and promoting products and services tailored to our customers.  This is done while ensuring prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate service.

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Providing prompt, efficient service, including performing various financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals and issuing cashier’s checks.
  • Assisting customers with payment processing and other tasks including safe deposit access, stop payments, interest rate quotes, and account inquiries.
  • Adhering to Bank policies, procedures, and balancing rules.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, and an understanding of banking laws and regulations.  The Teller must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail, and have the ability to understand and describe Bank products and services, including cross-selling appropriate products and services.  Tellers must also have a good understanding of safety issues and the ability to identify potential fraud and fraudulent items.

The successful Teller will also have excellent customer service and communication skills, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Credit Analyst - (Roseville or Redding)

Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Credit Analyst.  The Credit Analyst will assist with the loan process by spreading and analyzing current credit and financial information for commercial/business individual customers to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Enter financial figures into appropriate programs to generate ratios
  • Analyze credit and financial information (e.g., credit reports, tax returns, financial statements, etc.) to determine credit worthiness and risk involved in lending money to commercial/business individual customers
  • Assist Relationship Managers with the loan process by preparing credit approval reports for streamline underwriting of small business loans
  • Track and update tickler system; send financial request letters and perform maintenance


Requirements of the position include a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, or equivalent related experience in commercial lending.

The successful Credit Analyst will also possess solid word processing skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, loan software and Core system.  The successful candidate must also possess close attention to detail, good written and oral communication skills, organizational and multi-tasking skills, problem-solving skills, a high degree of professionalism, and the ability to work independently and as part of a group.

Loan Administrator II - (Roseville, CA)

The Roseville office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Loan Administrator II. The Loan Administrator II is responsible for providing excellent customer service and adding to the positive growth of the Bank by providing loan processing support to Relationship Managers and other employees in the lending department. This is done while ensuring prompt, efficient, confidential and accurate service.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Review loan documents and files to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate:
    •  Order and follow up on all documents (e.g., preliminary title reports, environmental, flood and other supporting documents)
    •  Maintain files both electronically and physically, keep files organized, with up to date pertinent information
    • Review files and upload to our electronic recordkeeping program iDentifi.
    • Prepare paperwork for extensions/renewals and modifications
  • Ensure proper procedures are followed to collect and account for all necessary collateral and evidence of insurance (applies to insurance, collateral, deeds, and titles); track and follow-up on all outstanding collateral and ensure all collateral requested by Bank is obtained.
  • Provide prompt, efficient service to customers both in person and over the phone (e.g., process transfers and advances, post payments, disburse loan funds in appropriate cases, etc.); respond to voicemail/email in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with new and existing customers by greeting them and completing transactions in an efficient and timely manner while giving them the utmost customer service.
  • Assist Relationship Manager with loan closing and account maintenance.
  • Balance necessary GL accounts as necessary.
  • Maintain Loan Status Activity Report on a weekly basis. Loans in Post Booking, must be reviewed, documents scanned and routed to Relationship Manager within 30 days of boarding.
Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, and ten years of banking and loan administrative experience, as well as title and escrow knowledge, and a general understanding of processing construction loans. The Loan Administrator II must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail. 
 
The successful Loan Administrator II will also have excellent customer service and communication skills, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills, and a high degree of professionalism.

Commercial Loan Underwriter II - (Roseville or Redding)

Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Commercial Loan Underwriter II.  The Commercial Loan Underwriter II is a mid-level position responsible for underwriting various types of commercial loans, including providing underwriting support to the Commercial Banking and Commercial Real Estate Officers and managing a portfolio of loans.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Enter financial figures into appropriate programs to generate ratios, and examine data to determine credit worthiness. Compare items such as liquidity and profitability with other companies of same industry, size, and geographic location for commercial customers.

Relationship Manager - (Redding)

The Churn Creek office of Merchants Bank of Commerce has an immediate need for a Relationship Manager.  The Relationship Manager is responsible for developing business relationships with customers, promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.  The Relationship Manager is also responsible adding to the positive growth of the Bank by achieving established Bank goals through active participation is sales management and officer call programs.   

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Interviews prospective applicants and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; corresponds with or re-interviews applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
  • Engages in business development activities and ensures complete understanding of all of the Bank’s products and services.
  • Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
  • Gathers and analyzes all information necessary, working with underwriters to present a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval, meets with existing or potential customers; visiting sites of loans; negotiates loan terms and conditions.
  • Has primary responsibility for appropriate risk rating of loans in the portfolio.
  • Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solves problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within his or her portfolio; approves loan disbursements in accordance with agreements.
  • Ensures that credit inquiries and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved.
  • Ensures that certification or deletion of collateral is made by the appropriate personnel.
  • Approves loan payments, draws from lines of credit, and fund transfers within specified limits.
  • Authorizes commitment, engagement, action, and decline letters.
  • Reviews NSF and overdraft reports for customers assigned within his or her portfolio, approves or declines such exceptions within established lending limits.
  • Provides deposit and loan account ratings.
  • Assists in meeting annual deposit and loan growth goals assigned by senior management; participates in various internal committees assigned by senior management.
  • Assists senior management with developing, analyzing, and finalizing complex loan agreements with representatives of large businesses.
  • Complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations as outlined in the Bank’s policies and procedures.

Requirements of the position are a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting, seven (7) plus years of related experience in financial, lending and credit analysis, and loan portfolio management, and possess a valid driver’s license. The Relationship Manager must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail, and have the ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks. 

The successful Relationship Manager will also possess an excellent understanding of financial statements, tax returns, and basic financial analysis, as well as intermediate knowledge of related state and federal loan regulations and other applicable bank lending policies and procedures.  Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, and good analytical and organizational skills.

Operations Supervisor - (Roseville)

Primary responsibilities include: 

  • Assist Operations staff with questions or customer problems; approve large item deposits, teller over limits, general ledger, cashier checks, etc.
  • Prepare and verify the accuracy of cash shipments and ATM replenishments.
  • Train staff in preparing and completing certifications and reviewing them for accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of Bank products and services to assist in cross-selling them.

Requirements of the position are a high school diploma or equivalent, five (5) years of bank operations experience and a solid understanding of banking laws and regulations.  The Operations Supervisor must also maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, work accurately with close attention to detail, and have the ability to understand and describe Bank products and services, including cross-selling appropriate products and services.  Prior supervisory experience preferred.
